Respected Seniors & Dear Colleagues
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 46th Annual Conference of Rajasthan Ophthalmological Society to be held in the beautiful city of Udaipur on 8-10 November, 2024.
The Scientific Program Committee is in the process of formulating an outstanding program for ROSCON 2024. It will include superlative contributions from Ophthalmologists & leaders in the field from India & Rajasthan, who will be gathering for this mega event.
Our annual scientific meeting is rendezvous of eye care professionals and industrial partners, and the place to share expertise and experience. Under the theme of “Preferred practice patterns”, ROSCON 2024 is expected to feature a record number of renowned speakers presenting the latest innovations and ideas in various ophthalmic subspecialties.
The conference will foster interaction in several innovative ways and encourage dialogue through plenary sessions, free paper presentation, posters, keynote lectures and video sessions.
We are also adding new and exciting sessions specifically tailored to the expectations of our young and budding Ophthalmologists.
I would like to thank everyone in the ROS executive and the Local Organizing Committee of Udaipur Ophthalmological Society under the able leadership of Dr. Laxman Jhala, who are working very hard to make this event a grand success.
The abstract submissions are now open in various categories and I encourage every member, especially our young Turks to actively participate and contribute to the scientific program.
The online abstract submission portal and relevant guidelines are on the website rosonline.in. In case you are faced with any glitch, my office is always on standby to solve your problem.

Guidelines for Submission
GUIDELINES FOR FREE PAPERS (Competitive & Non-Competitive)
Free papers are accepted in all Ophthalmology sub-specialties
Submissions are invited…
Competitive free paper gold medal (Resident Category) – Dr. Haricharan gold medal
Eligibility- Candidate doing residency in Rajasthan (proof to be attached from HOD)
Ratified or non-ratified member of ROS
Competitive free paper gold medal (ROS member Category) – Dr. B.C. Sharma gold medal
Eligibility- ROS member (ratified or non-ratified) of less than 45 years of age.
Non-Competitive free paper- open to all ROS members
General Guidelines
- Each member can submit & present (if selected) a total of 1 abstract (as presenting author) in any category.
- A free paper can have one presenting author and up to 3 co-authors.
- All free paper awards are given to the presenting author only. The presenting author MUST BE A MEMBER OF ROS to contest for an award. (Ratified or non-ratified)
- The presenting author should be registered for the annual conference.
- Author, institute, or hospital affiliation in the title or abstract should not be mentioned, else will lead to automatic rejection.
- No new author can be added after the submission of a free paper.
- No change in presenting author will be allowed if selected for the final session.
- The free paper duration is 6 minutes only.
- The research should have been carried out in Rajasthan.
- An absence from the session without the prior information (at least 3 weeks before the conference) may lead to debarment in the subsequent annual conference.
- Previous winners are not eligible to be the presenting author for the competitive category.
- The Best Paper ROS member category gets a direct entry to present at the next AIOC conference.
Submission Process
Title – The title of the submission should not exceed 100 characters (including spaces)
Select Type– Competitive Paper Resident category, Competitive Paper ROS Member category., Non- Competitive Paper or e -Poster)
Section – Choose the relevant specialty
Synopsis/Abstract – SHOULD NOT exceed 1000 characters (including spaces). Should include Purpose, Material/Methods, Results, Conclusion
Add details of Presenting Author
Accepted paper in full text must be submitted before the due date to the Chairman, Scientific Committee, ROS.
GUIDELINES FOR E-POSTERS
E-posters are accepted in all Ophthalmology sub-specialties
General Guidelines
An E-Poster is an electronic version of the traditional boards and is displayed in the e-poster and video kiosks. E-Poster may include text, figures, tables, and images but NO video/animations.
- E-Posters present scientific material, usually new information, and should not solicit members, or promote an organization
- Each Presenting Author can submit only one E-poster.
- There can be a maximum of 4 authors in an E-Poster (including the chief author).
- Presenting authors should be members of ROS (Either ratified or non-ratified).
- Institution/hospital affiliation and doctor’s name in the title or abstract should not be mentioned and will lead to automatic rejection.
- The research should have been carried out in Rajasthan.
Submission Guidelines – Same as paper submission. Choose poster in the type of submission.
Uploading / Submission of E-Posters
All selected E-Posters have to be mailed/WeTransfer with all details to the chairman scientific committee. E-posters submitted after the last date shall be automatically rejected.
Presentations for E-Posters
E-Posters should consist of a maximum of 11 Microsoft Powerpoint slides, including the title slide, and include:
- The first slide – title and the authors’ information
- Introduction
- Material and Methods
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Use Times New Roman or Arial fonts.
- The font should be no smaller than 18 points.
- A maximum of 120 words on each slide.
- Use a plain background without patterns
- Use clear headings and leave spaces between sections.
- Pictures and graphics should be clearly labeled and described and of good quality
- The text should not be obscured by images.
- Keep the posters simple – makes it easier to read.
- Do not fit too much information on one slide.
Selection and presentation
- All the submitted E-Posters will be subjected to an evaluation process.
- Based on the scores, the award will be given to the best e-poster
- The selected E-Poster can be viewed at any time during the conference. A specific time slot will not be required.
- The Scientific Committee shall issue a certificate of presentation to all the authors of the E-Posters, which were displayed in the kiosk.
GUIDELINES FOR VIDEOS
Video abstracts are accepted in any of the following specialties
- Anterior Segment
- Posterior Segment
- General videos
General Guidelines
- Each PRESENTING AUTHOR can submit only one video.
- No more than 3 co-authors are allowed for video submissions.
- Presenting authors should be members of ROS (Either ratified or non-ratified).
- The video duration is 6 minutes only.
- The video format should be in MP4 format and with a voice-over.
- The best Video award will be given to the presenting author only.
- No change in presenting author is allowed once the video is selected for finals.
- No new author can be added after the submission of a video.
- An absence from the session without the prior information (at least 21 days before the conference) may lead to debarment in the subsequent annual conference.
- Institution/hospital affiliation and doctor’s name should not be mentioned in the title or abstract and will lead to automatic rejection.
- The title of the Video should not exceed 100 CHARACTERS INCLUDING SPACE
- Synopsis cannot exceed 1000 CHARACTERS INCLUDING SPACE
- The research should have been carried out in Rajasthan.
- Submission guidelines are similar to paper.
- After abstract selection, the full video has to be transferred to chairmansccommitee@rosonline.in via we-transfer.
- Presenting authors should be registered at the annual conference.
GUIDELINES FOR TEACHERS OF TOMORROW
- Maximum 3 teams are allowed per medical college and each team would consist of a mentor and a postgraduate
- The teacher-mentor will groom the postgraduate.
- Each team will submit two topics of their interest for presentation by the post-graduate student (4 minutes duration), out of which one selected topic will be notified by the selection panel.
- The post-graduates have to prove their teaching skills through their presentation in the competition
- Each presentation will be judged by senior judges.
- The final round of TOT will include a short presentation by the postgraduate student on any topic given by the Judges with an impromptu environment of 5 minutes.
- Scores will be based on content, way of presentation, time management, and answers to the judges’ questions.
- The top team will be awarded the coveted TOT grand prize.
All participants must be ROS members (Ratified or Non ratified)
GUIDELINES FOR RESIDENT OF THE YEAR (ROTY)
Entries are invited by postgraduates & fellows pursuing their training in Rajasthan.
- The competition will include various rounds of multiple choice questions, quiz & extempore sessions – details will be informed to the applicants.
- The purpose is to evaluate the overall theoretical & clinical skills of the student in a preparation naive environment.
- The topper will get the coveted ROTY grand prize.
- All participants must be ROS members (Ratified or Non Ratified)
GUIDELINES FOR CASE OF THE YEAR
Purpose – to present challenging surgical case/ case series, medical cases/ case series with diagnostic dilemmas & rare cases with proper documentation.
- Abstract submission includes a title & synopsis of the case on the basis of which best cases will be selected to present in ROSCON 2024.
- Selected presenting authors should ensure surgical video for the surgical case and relevant diagnostic support for medical cases ( Topography OCT, fields, clinical pictures, etc )
- Title – Maximum – 100 characters
- Synopsis – Maximum 1000 characters
- Full Case details will not be needed before the conference.
- The presenting author should be a ROS member (Ratified or non-ratified)
